Football Shows Fight in Home Battle with Hocking College
Detroit, Mich. — Community Christian College Football continued to show growth and grit on Saturday afternoon at Renaissance High School, but fell 44–22 to visiting Hocking College in a high-energy matchup that featured several bright spots for the Lions' offense.
After trailing 29–8 at halftime, Community Christian roared back in the third quarter with 14 unanswered points, cutting deep into the deficit before the Hawks pulled away late. Quarterbacks James Burnley and Julian Liddel combined to throw for 164 yards, as Burnley completed 4-of-9 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown, while Liddel went 4-of-11 for 49 yards.
Burnley's scoring strike found Adrian Barnes, who hauled in two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown. Quincy Twymon Jr. led all CCC receivers with three catches for 70 yards, including several key gains that kept drives alive. Rashawn Williams added a 35-yard reception to help fuel the aerial attack.
On the ground, Caleb Moore powered the offense with 49 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries, averaging 5.4 yards per attempt. Dre Ellis (29 yards) and Julian Liddel (28 yards) added balance to the run game, giving CCC a well-rounded offensive performance that totaled nearly 300 yards of offense.
Defensively, Amaree Baker and Antonio Jones led the charge with five tackles apiece, while Kelton Graham made a major impact in the trenches with a sack and three tackles for loss. Danero Harris, Jordan Byers, and Davair McCrimon each recorded stops behind the line, while Curtis Perry and Jalil Burnside helped tighten up coverage with pass breakups.
Despite a slow first half and a few costly turnovers, Community Christian's strong third quarter and balanced offensive output demonstrated the program's continued improvement and resilience.
Community Christian (2–5) returns to action next week against Community Christian College in Jacksonville, FL. Kickoff is set for early afternoon.
