WBB Falls Short at Kirtland

GRAYLING -- In their first game of the season, the Community Christian College Women's basketball team fell to Kirtland CC on Saturday afternoon, 65-43. The Lady Lions trailed by 14 at halftime, and were never able to catch up.

Two DC3 players were in double figures. Aqierra Hinton tallied a team-high 15 points, while Brianna Wiliams added 10.

The Firebirds climbed out to an early 8-0 lead, but DC3 fought back and went on a 5-0 run following a layup and some free throws from Imani Smith. 5 of their 7 1st Quarter Points came from the charity stripe.

The second quarter saw Community Christian score eleven points shooting a woeful 3-of-14 from the field. The hosts were able to capitalize off the poor shooting performance and outscored them, 17-11. KCC took a 32-18 lead into the break.

Kirtland saw their lead grow to 42-20 midway through the third quarter of action. Even though Hinton caught fire in the 2nd half, it wasn't enough to make it a close game against the Firebirds.

Community Christian starts their home schedule with the next two. DC3 hosts Delta College on Saturday, November 9th, at 1pm from Center Line Prep.
