MBB Earns Road Win at Ancilla
PLYMOUTH, Ind. — Community Christian College Men's Basketball put together a strong all-around performance on Tuesday night, earning an 82–65 road victory over Marian University Ancilla on January 6.
The Lions set the tone early, taking a 35–27 lead into halftime before pulling away in the second half with 47 points to secure the 17-point win. Community Christian shot an efficient 48 percent from the field and used balanced scoring and active defense to control the contest.
Gabriel Buttram led the Lions with a game-high 18 points on 9-of-17 shooting, adding four rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Trey West followed with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Solomon Parks chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds in just 20 minutes of action.
Community Christian also received a solid spark off the bench from Kenneth Weston, who scored 12 points while knocking down three free throws and adding a pair of rebounds. Kajuan Kearney filled the stat sheet with seven points, five rebounds, and a team-high nine assists, helping the Lions move the ball effectively throughout the night.
Defensively, the Lions forced 19 turnovers and recorded eight steals and eight blocks, disrupting Marian Ancilla's offensive rhythm. Terrance Hicks led the defensive effort with four steals, while Kevin Steele Jr. added two blocks.
With the win, Community Christian improves to 6–12 on the season, 1-0 in the new year as a Bryant & Stratton team approaches in the only home game of January.
