Men's Basketball Falls to Oakland
Community Christian College Men's Basketball put together one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season, but a tough afternoon on the defensive glass and a dominant inside showing from Oakland Community College proved to be the difference in a 97–86 defeat.
DC3 came out firing, hanging 44 first-half points and keeping pace behind strong starts from Trey West, Teyshaun Hicks, and Solomon Parks. West was aggressive from the start and finished with 20 points, while Hicks powered the offense with 21 points, including three makes from deep. Parks added 14 points on near-perfect efficiency, helping Community Christian stay within striking distance throughout.
The second half mirrored the first in scoring, with DC3 putting up another 42 points. Terrance Hicks chipped in 13, and Gabriel Buttram added 6 more, but every Lions push was met with an answer from the home squad. Oakland's balanced scoring and size inside were ultimately key, as the home team held a decisive rebounding edge and consistently converted second-chance opportunities.
Community Christian also received strong minutes off the bench from Kenneth Weston and TaiQuan Owens, who each contributed 6 points, with Weston adding valuable free-throw trips to keep the offense steady.
Despite the loss, DC3 posted 86 points on efficient shooting across the board—an encouraging sign heading into the final stretch of November play.
Community Christian returns to action this weekend at the Parkland Classic, looking to build on the offensive rhythm they showcased at Oakland.
