Lions Bounce Back with Home Win Over Kirtland

DETROIT, Mich. — November 5, 2025 — Community Christian College Men's Basketball picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday night, defeating Kirtland Community College 81–62 at home. The Lions used a strong second half to pull away, outscoring the Firebirds 47–33 after the break.

After a tightly contested first 20 minutes that saw DC3 take a 34–29 lead into halftime, the Lions found their rhythm offensively and controlled the tempo down the stretch. The team's energy on defense and balanced scoring effort helped seal the victory.

Freshman guard Terrance Hicks led the way with 21 points, knocking down four three-pointers and providing a spark off the bench. Solomon Parks added 13 points and four rebounds, while Kenneth Weston and Nathan Stacy each contributed nine points. Kevin Steele Jr. and Teyshaun Hicks also made key plays on both ends, combining for 15 points and six steals.

DC3 forced 25 Kirtland turnovers and tallied 25 steals as a team, using defensive pressure to generate transition offense. The Lions shot 37.7% from the field and 66.7% from the free-throw line, while limiting Kirtland to 32.3% shooting.

With the win, Community Christian improves to 1–1 on the season.

DC3 will play next on the road on Saturday, facing Alpena Community College, tip-off at 3pm.
